Photo source: G.M.G. for the LMLK Research website Excavation site: unknown Excavation date: unknown Excavation locus: unknown Storage/display: private collection of Michael Welch Seal type: none Notes: Although this handle bears a raised trapezoidal shape similar to part of a wing from any LMLK seal, there is no depression mark surrounding it; i.e., it was not made from a seal impression even though it is obviously a Type-484 handle. It is probably just an excess piece of clay leftover from the larger patch of clay used to attach the handle to the jar. A smaller patch can be seen below it (shaded more in the 2nd photo), continuing down to the fracture. |
